The thesis described the barriers that prevent workers in the Ústí region from using the family conference tool and the circumstances for (not)removing children to foster care. Furthermore, factors influencing street-level bureaucrats in the choice of the tool were identified and the thesis highlights a possible difference in criteria for removing children to foster care across the regions, which would be worth further exploration.
Comparison of Social Protection Systems in EU Countries with a Focus on the Family
ŠTROBLOVÁ, Lucie
The bachelor thesis compares social protection systems in EU countries with a focus on families. The aim of the thesis is to describe current trends in family support based on the comparison of social protection systems in EU countries using the MISSOC database. The desk research method (analysis of data and information from the MISSOC database) and comparison were chosen to achieve the aim of the work. The compared data of individual support measures were subsequently inserted into charts and graphs. Based on the comparison, current trends in family support in EU countries were described. The results of the research show that the level of support varies among EU countries. However, common features can also be observed, especially in financial assistance to families. A significant trend is the balance of work and family life, which is achieved in various ways. The trend of encouraging fathers to participate in childcare, including through extending paternity leave, should not be overlooked either. The research has also provided possible inspiration for the Czech Republic in supporting families, especially by utilizing Swedish experience in the area of parental benefits, which could bring benefits to families in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the Czech Republic could be inspired by Austria or Estonia, where family support is at a high level. The results of this thesis can serve as recommendations for experts in the event of possible changes in the social protection system, especially in the provision of family benefits. They can also be used to orientate oneself in family support in individual EU countries.
